The movement of container handling and navigation at the General Authority of Alexandria Port witnessed remarkable activity during the past 24 hours, as 1,550 equivalent containers and 86,000 tons of cargo were handled.
The port’s spokesman, Ahmed Bareiqa, said that 27 ships entered and exited in one day to the berths of Alexandria and Dekheila ports, and work is currently underway to load and unload 32 ships, most notably container ships and dry and liquid bulk, and 1550 equivalent containers were handled, in a remarkable convergence between the number of containers. Imported and exported, as the exported containers accounted for approximately 41% of the volume of handled containers, amounting to 630 containers, while 920 equivalent containers were imported.
Barqi added that approximately 86,000 tons of various types of goods and strategic commodities, including “liquid and dry bulk, general and transit goods”, were shipped and unloaded during this period.
