Texels led the way at the Annual Ram Show and Sale held at the Thainstone Centre on Tuesday when the champion from Matthew Seed, Auchry, Cumniestown topped the sale at 2400gns.
Sired by Fordafourie Everest the shearling went onto sell to Cairness Ltd, Fraserburgh.
The event, sponsored by Harbro and supported by Elanco saw 526 pedigree and cross-bred rams sell onto new owners.
Colin Slessor, Deputy Head of Livestock said: “A good ringside of buyers was present here at Thainstone today which resulted in a strong trade for all top-quality rams with the Texels and Suffolks showing very positive increases on the year.
“We would also like to thank Harbro and Elanco for their continued support of this event.”
Matthew Seed also had a shearling ram, sired by Loosebeare Chief forward, which sold for 2200gns selling to Cairness Ltd, Fraserburgh.
Reserve champion, a ram lamb from Kenny Pratt, Oldtown Farm, Peterculter which was sired by Auldhouseburn Fancy Pants sold for 2000gns to the judge, Colin Stuart, Belnoe, Ballindalloch.
A Texel shearling, sired by Strathbogie Cracker Jack from J C Innes & S Duncroft sold for 1400gns again to Cairness Ltd.
A J Rae from Udny went on to sell a shearling ram, sired by Feolquoy Braveheart for 1250gns to J & S Garrioch, Rivestone, Kinnoir. A J Rae also sold a shearling ram, sired by Knock Denver for 1200gns to B & G Hepburn, Berry Farm, Shetland.
W J Knox from Mid Haddo, Fyvie sold a shearling, sired by Harestone Eldorado for 1200gns again to Messr Hepburn, Berry Farm.
A Texel Shearling sired by Feolquoy Braveheart from A J Rae, Ellon sold for 1150gns to J & S Garrioch, Rivestone.
A ram lamb sired by Auldhouseburn Fancy Pants, from Kenny Pratt sold for 1150gns to E H Alexander, Insch.
In the Suffolks section the overall champion was awarded by judge Ian Hepburn, Northhouse, Hawick to a shearling ram from Findlay Hunter, West Cairnhill, Culsalmond, Insch, which went onto top the Suffolk trade at 2000gns selling to Cairness Ltd, Fraserburgh.
The shearling ram was sired by Castleisle Capaldi.
Second and third to the top prices were ram lambs from James Young, Muirton, Corse, Alford which realised 1,300gns and 1,200gns, both selling to R & G Ramsay, South Collafirth, Ollaberry, Shetland.
Four ram lambs tapped out at 1,000gns, two from J A Lorimer, Cadgerford, Kingswells sold to M Gibb, Belskavie, Culter and D J McKerrow, Uppermill Farm, Tarves.
Secondly, from J Young, Muirton, Corse, Alford sold to 1,000gns to S Woodrow, 16 West End, Port Charlotte, Islay and finally a Ram Lamb from G L Stuart, Milltown of Birness, Ellon sold to R & G Ramsay, South Collafirth, Ollaberry, Shetland.
950gns was realised twice, first for a ram lamb from C G Patterson, Cranna Bridge, Aberchirder selling to Messr Andersons, Corskellie, Rothiemay, Huntly and secondly, for a ram lamb from G L Stuart, Milltown of Birness, Ellon going to R McLeod, Blackhole Finzean, Banchory.
The Suffolk reserve champion went to a ram lamb from the 1st prize Pen of 5 ram lambs from G L Stuart, Milltown of Birness, Ellon by Rooky the King, that went onto sell for 900gns.
Beltex rams sold to 1100gns for the Reserve Champion from Stuart Wood, Broadwater, Skene selling to S Woodrow, Islay.
The Champion Beltex ram lamb from A Miller, Midmar sold for 1000gns to R Shand, Aberchirder. The Miller team also sold a ram lamb for 1000gns to J & J S Wilken, Raefin, Keith.
Also selling for 1000gns was a shearling from R Gregor, Inverurie selling to J H & S Anderson, Ross Shire.
The Blue Texel rams saw the top price of 800gns for a shearling from W J & M Hunter, West Carinhill, Culsamond. A ram lamb also from the Hunter Family sold for 700gns to J & A Strathdee, North Rettanch, Rothiemay.
Bluefaced Leicester champion, a shearling from Matthew Seed sold for 650gns to S Burnett, Kingswells Croft, Oyne. A shearling from S Burnett, Kingswells Croft Oyne sold to M R & G S Jenkins, Bower for 520gns.
In the Border Leicester rams section, the Champion was a ram lamb from J G Douglas, Woodhead, Cairness, Fraserburgh going on to sell for the top price of 1100gns to Duncan Whyte. A Border Leiceter ram lamb from the same consigner sold for 400gns to James Stirling, Greenfield, Cuminestown, Turriff.
The Champion Charollais was won by a shearling from E & E Duncan, Barnyards, Clola which sold for 700gns to A Adam & Son, Huntly. A Charollais shearing from G T & S Coghill, Muce Birsay, Orkney sold for 600gns to W A Watt, Bogharvey, Turriff.
The Dutch Spotted rams topped at 800gns for a shearling from M Simpson, Tardoes, Kilmarnock selling to W & N Lawrence, Blackpots, Auchnagatt.
