A life-saving defibrillator will be installed in a Marr park thanks to support from Aberdeenshire Council.
Birse and Ballogie Community Council applied to the Marr small grants fund seeking £1725 for the vital piece of equipment at Potarch Green.
The group argued that visitors to the area would benefit from the defibrillator.
They also revealed that the nearest defibillators in Kincardine O’Neil and Ballogie Nursery are at least a 10-minute drive away.
Following consultation, it was agreed that the equipment would be installed close to the Potarch Cafe.
Community council members will monitor and maintain the device, ensuring its pads are replaced when needed.
The funding application went before the Marr area committee recently.
Councillor Ann Ross backed the proposal and praised the community council for recognising the needs of its local area.
She added: “Potarch Green is a very well known green in a rural area.
“It is incredibly busy with visitors, holidaymakers and day-trippers from Aberdeen and the surrounding area.
“I completely understand why a defibrillator at this location would be necessary.”
Meanwhile councillor Yi-Pei Chou Turvey said the device would act as a “safety net” for visitors.
Committee chairman councillor Robbie Withey also gave his support, saying the defibrillator would benefit “the whole of Marr, Aberdeenshire and people from beyond”.
The committee went on to unanimously approve the funding.
