THE story of Banffshire people down the ages is to take centre stage at a forthcoming conference in Cullen.
Banffshire Field Club are holding a sell-out one day conference in the Seafield Arms Hotel on Saturday, October 7, with around 80 delegates signed up to attend.
The keynote speaker will be Prof Marjory Harper, the chair in history at the University of Aberdeen, who will be discussing the Banffshire diaspora. Among the seven-strong speaker list is Portgordon man Prof Peter Reid, who holds the chair in librarianship at Robert Gordon University. He will be talking about Catholics in Banffshire.
Other subjects set to be covered at the conference are: Cabrach Lives; Bracoden War Memorial; Keith People; Discovering your Banffshire Roots.
Opening the event is the Lord Lieutenant of Banffshire Andrew Simpson, who is the patron of the club.
The conference is due to get under way at 9.30am, with the final speaker due to take the podium at 2.30pm.
Banffshire Field Club is dedicated to promoting the study of the history, antiquities, natural history and cultural heritage of the county of Banffshire.
