Dr. Assem Al-Jazzar, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, continued the executive position of the various housing and development projects being implemented in the new Rashid City, which is one of the fourth generation cities being established, and enjoys its distinguished location from the beginning of the mouth of the Rashid branch, and extends westward to the sites of natural gas projects north of the city of Idku. It also enjoys a beachfront of approximately 10 km on the Mediterranean coast.
The Minister of Housing stated that the new Rashid city is scheduled to accommodate all types of housing (tourist, medium, and social), in addition to various service and development projects. To increase the governorate’s resources, and to contribute to the implementation of various projects to serve its residents.
The minister indicated that the total investments in the urgent phase, in the new city of Rashid, so far amounted to 778 million pounds, and the implementation of the Good News Initiative 4 is being completed through the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces, in cooperation with the Ministry of Housing, with a total of (66 buildings), in addition to the implementation of parks works. And the roads are in the urgent phase, and the implementation of that phase is scheduled to be completed within a year from now, and a number of residential buildings are being implemented under the presidential initiative, “Housing for All Egyptians”, with areas ranging from (100 – 110 – 120) square meters, and the implementation rate reached 53%.
The Minister of Housing added that the investment plan for the current fiscal year in the new city of Rashid amounts to 406.219 million pounds, and road and utilities works are being completed in the urgent phase, and the implementation of an outlet and a lifting station with a capacity of 5 thousand m3 / day has begun + a conveyor line with a diameter of 250 mm and a length of 6.5 km. Compact station, with a capacity of 2000 m3/day, to feed water to the urgent stage. Electricity transformer stations are planned to be established within the strategic plan of the city to provide the necessary loads for future expansions and projects.
Engineer Ahmed Ibrahim, Head of the New Rashid City Development Agency, indicated that an area of 35 acres in the city has been allocated for the establishment of Rashid University, and a ministerial decision and licenses have been issued for it, and its implementation has begun, and the first phase of it will start operating in the next academic year. The allocation of 3 plots of land with a total area of 32,000 square meters for the activities of schools in the first phase, and the allocation of service lands to be offered to investors, in addition to the plan for implementing the tourism and entertainment area on the coast of Rashid on an area of 50 feddans to attract investments.
