A study issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, today, Wednesday, on “the development of electronic commerce in Egypt during the period 2011-2021,” showed that Egypt ranked first at the level of the Arab countries, in terms of the proportion of exports of electronic commerce to the total merchandise trade, as it increased from 0.2% to 2.9% over that period.
Egypt ranked first in terms of the percentage of e-commerce imports to total merchandise trade, increasing from 3.5% to 4.8% during the period 2011-2021.
China – Hong Kong ranked first in the world, in terms of the proportion of e-commerce exports to total merchandise trade, rising from 42.5% to 61.2% during the period (2011-2021).
China – Hong Kong ranked first in terms of the proportion of e-commerce imports to total merchandise trade, rising from 40.4% to 57.5%.
Egypt ranked 109th globally and 13th at the level of Arab countries in 2020, according to the readiness index for online trade between businesses and consumers published by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
The UAE and Saudi Arabia came at the forefront of the Arab countries in 2020, according to the Readiness Index for Internet Trade between Businesses and Consumers, occupying 37th and 49th places, respectively, in the world.
Libya and Morocco came in the last ranks before Egypt at the level of the Arab countries in 2020, according to the readiness index for online trade between companies and consumers, and they occupy the 85th and 95th places, respectively, in the world.
The number of fixed phone subscribers reached 11 million subscribers, while the total number of mobile phone subscribers reached 103.5 million in 2021, while the number of mobile Internet users reached 63.4 million users, the number of USB Modem subscribers reached 2.1 million subscribers in 2021, and the number of offices recorded Government Post office 4194 offices in 2021.
