Egypt’s imports of durable goods achieved a new record decline of 60%, reaching $1.073 billion during the first five months of 2023, compared to $2.661 billion during the corresponding months of the previous year, a decrease of $1.5 billion.
According to a report issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, imports of passenger cars recorded the largest decline among imports of Umrah goods, whose value fell to $531.4 million during the first five months of 2023 compared to $1.2 billion during the corresponding months of the previous year, a decrease of 676.6 million dollars.
The imports of phones for individuals witnessed a sharp decline to the limits of $ 1.2 million during the first five months of 2023, compared to $ 339.2 million during the corresponding months of the previous year, a decrease of $ 337.9 million, and the imports of television screens also decreased to the limits of $ 4.010 million during the first five months. Imports of refrigerators recorded $44.9 million during the first five months of 2023 compared to $93.039 million during the corresponding months of the previous year, a decrease of $48.070 million.
