El-Ray: Egypt continues its relentless efforts to reach a binding legal agreement on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam

This evening, the activities of the tripartite meeting hosted by Cairo on August 27 and 28 regarding the Renaissance Dam negotiations ended, with the participation of negotiating delegations from Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia, with the aim of reaching an agreement on the rules for filling and operating the Renaissance Dam.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation stated that the negotiation round that ended in Cairo did not witness tangible changes in the positions of the Ethiopian side, stressing in this context that Egypt continues its unremitting endeavors to reach a binding legal agreement at the earliest opportunity regarding the rules for filling and operating the Renaissance Dam, as it was established. It takes into account the Egyptian interests and constants by preserving its water security and preventing harm to it, and achieves the benefit for the three countries, which requires that all negotiating parties adopt a comprehensive vision that combines the protection of national interests and the achievement of benefit for all, and in a way that reflects positively on the upcoming negotiation rounds with the aim of reaching An agreement regarding the rules for filling and operating the Renaissance Dam, according to the statement issued by the meeting of the leaderships of Egypt and Ethiopia in this regard.
