The East African Business Council (EABC), the East Africa Conference and Summit for African Business and Investment 2023, will be held in Kampala, Uganda from 31 August to 1 September 2023, with the participation of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) of the East African Business Council (EABC) and the Council of Trade and African Investment (EATIC) and the East African Community (EAC).
East Africa Business and Investment Summit 2023 aims to attract investment to the East African community as a one-stop investment destination in order to allow investors access to a larger market population of more than 300 people.
The main objective of the Summit will be to enhance trade, investment and financing opportunities between EAC members and between the EAC and the rest of Africa in the context of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Agenda and vision to create a borderless East Africa for business.
And East African countries formed in 1967 a group of international regional organization that includes seven countries located in the Great Lakes region in East Africa, namely: Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and the Republic of the Congo.
The headquarters of the East African Group is located in Arusha, Tanzania. The organization was established in 1967, dissolved in 1977, and re-established on July 7, 2000. The group is now chaired by Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The population of the countries of the East African Group is 177 million citizens, more than 22% of whom are urban residents, and the total area of the group is 2.5 million square kilometers, with a total gross domestic product of US $ 193 billion (2019 statistics), so it carries great strategic and geopolitical importance and prospects for expansion and revitalization of the East African Community.
