Today, the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, represented by the Supply Commodities Authority, decides on two international and local practices for the purchase of edible oil.
The General Authority for Supply Commodities announced Practice No. 6 of 2023/2024 for imported crude oil, to supply 30,000 tons of imported crude soybean oil and 10,000 tons of imported crude oil.
The authority stated, in a statement, that the offers are submitted for the whole or part of the quantity, with a minimum of 5 thousand tons, explaining that the arrival period is from October 6 to October 20, 2023, or from October 21 to November 5.
She pointed out that the session of opening the envelopes and deciding will take place today, Thursday, at the headquarters of the General Authority for Supply Commodities, and added that the rest of the conditions and specifications are in accordance with the booklet of conditions and specifications available in the Authority for Supply Commodities, noting that the supplier offers its prices on the basis of payment at sight and with 180-day supplier facilities, and 270 days with supplier facilities. The Authority chooses what suits it.
Crude oil supply
On the other hand, the authority announced Practice No. 6 of 2023/2024 to supply local crude oil in pounds for the Holding Company for Food Industries (1000 tons of soybean oil, 500 tons of edible oil), and offers are submitted for the full quantity or part of it for delivery during the period from 5 to 20 October 2023 / or from October 25 to November 10, 2023.
The authority had announced during the last period that within the framework of the directives of the political leadership to preserve the strategic stock of food commodities, and through the first practices of crude edible oil at the headquarters of the General Authority for Supply Commodities in the government district in the building of the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade in the Administrative Capital, the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, represented by The General Authority for Supply Commodities approved the amount of 53 thousand tons of bulk crude oil, including the amount of 6000 tons of local crude soybean oil in pounds, and the amount of 47 thousand tons of imported crude oil, bringing the country’s strategic balance of oil to 5 months, and the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade announced, Dr. Ali Al-Moselhi, on increasing the strategic stock of oil to 3.7 months.
