Dr. Yasmine Fouad, the envoy of the COP 27 climate conference, expressed the readiness of the Egyptian Ministry of Environment to provide sponsorship and all necessary support for the Egyptian forum, by providing technical support and experiences gained during Egypt’s trip in the climate file in general, and the experience of preparing for the presidency of the current climate conference COP 27, praising the idea of the Egyptian forum The road towards the COP 28 Climate Conference, which seeks to mobilize national participation at the level of civil society, youth and the private sector, to present ideas, projects and pioneering models in the field of environmental and climate investment through the official Egyptian pavilion for the upcoming COP 28 Climate Conference in Dubai, reflecting the momentum achieved in the climate change file. At the official and unofficial national level, there is growing interest in the climate change dimension and linking it to the various development sectors.
The Minister of Environment indicated the importance of linking the topics raised during the forum with the recent national outputs in the field of climate change, including the National Climate Change Strategy 2050 and the updated first and second national contributions plan, and presenting them to the participants during the discussions to come up with a number of priority points for presentation through the Egyptian pavilion at the conference. Climate COP 28, highlighting success stories, community initiatives and contributions of entrepreneurs in the field of environment and climate.
The minister added that Egypt is keen to build on the fruits and successes of the COP 27 climate conference, maintain the momentum achieved, leading to the next COP 28 climate conference, and highlight regional requirements and priorities, whether Arab or African, especially in priority areas such as health, agriculture, energy and sustainable cities. and environmental investment.
The minister also drew attention to the role of the environmental and climate investment conference scheduled to be held next month, on the way towards the next climate conference COP 28, by highlighting promising investment opportunities in various fields of environment and climate, and offering a package of those opportunities in the fields of waste, energy and biodiversity through Projects with actual feasibility studies ready for implementation, and she urged the organizers of the forum to participate in the conference to learn about the ideas and projects presented and communicate with a larger number of representatives of the private sector and entrepreneurs, and the possibility of creating a platform for entrepreneurs in the field of environment and climate to highlight promising investment opportunities in this field.
For his part, Ambassador Raouf Saad, Advisor to the Minister of Environment for multilateral agreements, confirmed that the idea of the forum is ambitious and enhances the efforts of the Ministry of Environment during its preparations to participate in the upcoming COP 28 climate conference and its keenness to mobilize the participation of civil society, youth and the private sector, explaining that climate and the environment are an issue that intersects with all sectors.
