Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, held a meeting; To discuss and follow up the work developments related to the system of issuing health certificates for workers in the field of food handling, today, Monday, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the new city of El Alamein.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry, stated that the meeting discussed the new electronic system for issuing permits and health certificates for workers in the field of food handling, in cooperation with the Smart and Secure Issuance Complex by printing them, which the concerned authorities in the Ministry are working on and are in the process of finalizing, according to the directives of the Minister. Health and population for that matter.
Abdul Ghaffar added that the system aims to achieve electronic linkage between the General Administration of Food Control and the examination centers for food handlers and laboratories, as well as the establishment of an integrated database for workers in the field of food handling to submit requests for the issuance of health certificates through it, and to issue a unified and insured health certificate for workers in food handling to prevent counterfeiting of issuance. The new certificates, with linking the authorities entrusted with the work system, which includes examination centers, collection centers, medical examination and analysis centers, and entering the result of chest x-rays, in addition to people working without a health certificate, to ensure facilitating procedures and facilitating monitoring of health certificates.
And Abdul Ghaffar added that the minister directed that this system be completed within the next few weeks, stressing the utmost importance it represents to ensure that workers in the field of food handling are free of infectious diseases and diseases transmitted through food, in a way that guarantees safe food access to the consumer, pointing out that he directed him to prepare an inventory It is integrated with all food establishments at the level of the governorates of the Republic, and addresses all concerned state agencies to provide the Ministry with data on its employees in the field of food handling.
Abdel Ghaffar referred to the Minister’s directive to study the provision of qualified clinics in all governorates of the Republic specialized and concerned with signing the examination of workers in the field of food and taking procedures for issuing certificates, in addition to the current designated centers of 251 workers’ examination centers distributed over the governorates, which are renewed annually, explaining that there have been The issuance of 311,454 health certificates during the first half of 2023, in addition to issuing nearly 42,000 reports during the same period for violators, and taking the necessary measures through judicial seizures in the governorates.
The meeting was attended by Major General Wael Al Saei, Assistant Minister for Financial and Administrative Affairs, Dr. Amr Qandil, Assistant Minister of Health for Preventive Medicine Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Mostafa, Head of the Hospitals and Educational Institutes Authority at the Ministry of Health and Population, and Eng. Akram Sami, Assistant Minister of Health for Information Technology Affairs.
