The Minister of Higher Education receives the delegation of the global Huawei company

Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, received Jacqueline Shi, Vice President of Huawei for Cloud Computing, and her accompanying delegation, in the presence of Dr. Sherif Kishk, Assistant Minister for Smart Governance, Maben, Head of Government Relations and Strategic Communication Sector Huawei Egypt, and Eng. Amr Zayed, Head of Government Relations for cooperation in the field of capacity building Huawei Egypt; To discuss ways of joint cooperation between the Ministry and the company in the field of cloud computing, in the private education building in New Cairo.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Ayman Ashour praised the volume of cooperation with the global company Huawei as a pioneer in the field of information technology, pointing out that Egypt has a clear plan to support science, technology and innovation, in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030, which was reflected in the quality of skills required in graduates, especially in areas of new technology.
The minister stressed the importance of expanding cooperation between Huawei and the ministry in the field of cloud computing and artificial intelligence, pointing to the role of ICT industry institutions in supporting higher education and scientific research, by building new technology in Egyptian universities and linking it to the labor market, industry, and entrepreneurship.

Preparing a new generation of qualified technicians for the labor market

The meeting discussed ways of joint cooperation between the Ministry, a Chinese university and Huawei to graduate a new generation of qualified technicians for the labor market in various fields of information technology such as the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing.
The two sides also discussed working towards signing a cooperation protocol in the field of training workers in the information technology sector in Egyptian public universities. With the aim of raising their efficiency to keep pace with the latest technology.
The two parties also discussed cooperation between the Ministry and Huawei to use cloud computing technology in the field of scientific research, encourage innovation, as well as benefit from cloud computing technology to host data and provide an opportunity for graduate students and scientific research to train on cloud computing technologies from Huawei. To qualify them for the labor market, and provide them with the necessary skills.
For her part, the Vice President of Huawei Cloud Computing confirmed Huawei’s keenness to support its relations with Egypt. As a leading country in the region, it seeks to transfer its expertise in technology within Africa and the Arab countries, pointing to the possibility of cooperation with the ministry in the fields of artificial intelligence and cloud computing.
As Dr. Sherif Kishk explained, this meeting comes within the framework of continuous cooperation between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and international companies in implementation of the principles of the national strategy for higher education and scientific research. To qualify and prepare human cadres capable of competing in the local, regional, and international labor market in the field of cloud computing, and to develop digital transformation capabilities among students and faculty members, and to encourage innovation and scientific research in the field of technology.
