Dr. Hani Sweilem, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, met John Forssell, Swedish Minister of Development Cooperation, on the sidelines of his participation in the World Water Week in Stockholm.
Dr. Swailem expressed his happiness at participating in the activities of the World Water Week, praising the permanent cooperation between Egypt and Sweden in the field of water resources, especially the support provided by the Swedish Development Cooperation Agency “SIDA” to Egypt and African countries in the field of water, and Egypt’s desire to develop this cooperation during the coming period. By providing technical and technical support to Egypt in a number of water-related fields, in light of the presence of a number of programs and events organized by the Swedish government, and that can meet the Egyptian demands, especially in the field of capacity building.
Dr. Swailem also called on the Swedish side to continue to actively participate in activities related to climate conferences to continue the successes achieved during the COP27 conference, while inviting the Swedish side to support the AWARe initiative in the water sector, especially in light of the important role of funding agencies and Swedish organizations working in the field of water in supporting this initiative. .
He also stressed the importance of the Swedish side providing grants and technical assistance in the water sector to African countries to meet the water and food challenges facing the African continent, support green policy and achieve sustainable development goals in these countries.
