Ahmed Essa, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, issued a ministerial decision appointing Shaaban Abdel-Gawad to the position of Director General of the General Department for Antiquities Recovery at the Supreme Council of Antiquities, at the job level of Director General of the Specific Group of Leadership Positions, for a period of three years.
This decision comes within the framework of the Ministry’s keenness to empower the human cadres of the Ministry and its affiliated bodies and escalate them to promote leadership positions in them, which contributes to advancing the work movement in all its files and completing them in an optimal manner.
It is worth noting that Shaaban Abdel-Gawad has been included in many jobs since joining the Supreme Council of Antiquities. In 1995 he worked as an inspector of antiquities in the Haram region, where he participated in many excavations in the areas of the Haram Antiquities and Bahariya Oasis, then in 2002 he became a member of the technical office of the Secretary-General of the Council. top effects. In 2008, he assumed the position of Director of the Egyptian Antiquities Department in the Office of the Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, and in 2012 he held the position of Director of the Egyptian Antiquities and Museums Department in the Office of the Minister of Antiquities. From 2016 until now, he held the position of General Supervisor of the General Department of Recovered Antiquities, and Rapporteur of the National Committee for Recovered Antiquities, which was reconstituted in 2016 to recover stolen and illegally smuggled Egyptian antiquities outside the country.
He has participated in many international conferences in the field of combating illegal trafficking in cultural property inside and outside Egypt, in addition to representing Egypt internationally in many international workshops and conferences in this regard. He also had a prominent role in recovering thousands of Egyptian artifacts smuggled from Egypt. illegally.
