Dr. Saad Musa, supervisor of foreign agricultural relations, participated in the “Launch of the United Nations Regional Cooperation Framework on Nutrition” event, on behalf of the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Mr. Al-Qaseer, in the presence of representatives of international bodies and organizations, some ministers and officials, as well as the regional director of UNICEF, Musa.
He delivered the minister’s speech and said that the launch of regional cooperation on nutrition is a good opportunity to enhance cooperation between the Egyptian government and international bodies to provide support in various fields of nutrition and to develop the method of food production throughout the entire food circulation chain from production to consumer, during which it is necessary to apply good agricultural practices, starting from the farm. Even the table, with attention to the need to spread health and food awareness and apply practices that ensure the safety of this food in order to provide food that meets the necessary energy needs for citizens.
Moussa added that the Second International Conference on Nutrition, which was organized within the framework of the partnership between the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Health Organization in 2014, stressed the importance of adopting a diet aimed at promoting healthy diets and improving the level of nutrition.
The head of foreign agricultural relations indicated that the Egyptian state was one of the first countries to respond to the invitation of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to work on the outputs of the Food Systems Summit, and reacted quickly and positively as it launched an intensive incentive system through a comprehensive national dialogue that included most of the relevant ministries, stakeholders and United Nations organizations in Cairo. And parallel to that, close regional interaction at the African level, by participating in the formulation of a unified African position that reflects the priorities of the African peoples, which was evident during the COP27 Climate Summit, which was hosted by the Egyptian state in November last year. Egypt also participated at the international level. In all meetings and work tracks of the summit, the study supported all the proposed solutions for the five tracks that emerged from that summit.
At the end of his speech, Moussa praised the role of the United Nations and its institutions, bodies and affiliated organizations, including UNICEF, the Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Food Program, in organizing this important event to “launch the United Nations Regional Cooperation Framework on Nutrition”, which coincides with all international and regional efforts in calling for the adoption of food systems. sustainable health and consistent with the goals of sustainable development 2030.
