The highest number of bank branches was recorded in 2020 by 2,076, and an increase was observed in the number of bank branches during the years 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 above the two thousand level, before it returned to a decline below that in 2021 in conjunction with the economic effects caused by the Corona pandemic.
At that time, the number of bank branches operating in Saudi Arabia reached 1,927 branches by the end of 2022, compared to 1,945 branches by the end of 2021, a decrease of 18 branches.
Riyadh the most
According to a monitoring conducted by Al-Watan, according to data from the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA), the Riyadh region topped the number of bank branches with 577 branches, Makkah Al-Mukarramah came second with 393 branches, while the Eastern Province ranked third with 345 branches, while The northern border region ranked last with 18 branches, after two branches were canceled this year.
