Ammon – A job day organized by the field office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Irbid, in cooperation with the Economic Empowerment Sub-Working Group, aimed to provide 370 job opportunities in the private sector for Syrian refugees and the host community.
The Governor of Irbid, Radwan Al-Atoum, pointed out the importance of job days by defining the available job opportunities for the unemployed in preparation for joining them within the royal visions, and the government’s plans to provide the largest possible number of jobs in the private sector to meet the challenges of unemployment and the effects of Syrian asylum on the available job opportunities.
He stressed the importance of following up on job days to move from their theoretical context to a tangible practical reality by employing applicants to fill vacancies for companies and institutions participating in such days, pointing to the importance of deepening partnership with the private sector to absorb the largest possible amount of local employment.
Al-Atoum praised the initiative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to hold this career day in Irbid, which is rich in human resources qualified to enter the labor market.
For her part, the Director of the field office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Irbid, Marjorie Cabrol, said that this job day is organized by the UNHCR at the Kingdom level in cooperation with partners to link job seekers from refugees and host communities with employers directly and follow up the employment process within its various stages to achieve the desired benefit. It also provides technical and legal training and qualification for job seekers.
The head of the field department in the Irbid office, Osama Al-Omari, said that the day also provided a space for leadership and innovation through networking with centers, colleges and institutes specialized in developing leadership and innovation, and providing free and subsidized training opportunities in this field, indicating that the work team will follow up the employment applications filled during the career day in addition to To the training and qualification processes in the various training centers.
