A workshop on the technical specifications of storage batteries in power systems

Ammon – The Jordan Standards and Metrology Institution held today, Wednesday, a workshop on “Technical Specifications for Energy Storage Batteries in Renewable Energy Systems”, in cooperation with the “Economic Development and Sustainable Energy in Jordan (SEED) project, funded by the Canadian government.

The economic and energy development project aims to develop local communities by spreading awareness and applying energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions, with the wide participation of representatives from the public and private sectors who are specialists in the energy sector.

During the opening of the workshop, the Director General of the Jordanian Standards and Metrology Institution, Eng. Abeer Al-Zuhair, stressed the importance of the renewable energy sector and its contribution to reducing the energy bill, emissions and environmental impacts, in addition to encouraging green partnerships and sustainable development.

She said, “The holding of this workshop came due to the importance of the energy sector and the need for joint action between all government institutions and the private sector, in coordination and support from international and regional partners. national authorities in this sector.

Al-Zuhair indicated that the Corporation has formed many permanent and specialized technical committees, in partnership with all concerned parties from the public and private sectors, in various sectors, including transport, traditional energy, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and the Electric Vehicles Committee, in addition to holding many awareness workshops to introduce the specifications. Which is being prepared, to keep pace with the global development in this field.

For his part, the director of the Economic Development and Sustainable Energy Project in Jordan, Eng. Muhammad Ramadan, said that this workshop comes at the end of this stage of the project that SEED is working on, which aims to change the energy reality in Jordan and develop local communities, praising the pivotal role And the importance played by the Institution of Standards and Metrology, its expertise and competencies in preparing standard specifications and technical rules according to the latest technology in the world.

Dr. Iyad Al-Sartawi, an expert in the energy sector and a member of the Renewable Energy Committee at the Foundation, gave a presentation on energy storage systems and a study of their specifications.

A discussion took place among the attendees, which included a presentation of the scientific development in the field of renewable energy, the latest findings of its technology, the possibility of Jordan benefiting from this technology, and studying what can be improved and developed to reach the best approved practices.
