Britain loses 4 million days of work due to strikes last year

Ammon – Britain lost about 4 million working days due to labor strikes during the past year, the highest number since the eighties of the last century, according to the “Resolution Foundation” think tank.
In its report issued today, Monday, the center confirmed that many of the strikes last year were due to a decrease in real wages by more than 9 percent in the public sector with strong unions.
He added that sectors such as education, health, postal services and railways accounted for about 96 percent of the total number of working days lost due to strikes over the past year.
He pointed out that the strikes were not only due to wages, warning of the increasing role played by working conditions, stress and pressures to which workers are exposed.
