Diversions in place for scheduled closure of Borders road

The works will see Transport Scotland’s operating company, BEAR Scotland, resurface the A7 carriageway in Selkirk at Viewfield Park and North of Selkirk, at the B7014 junction, creating smoother and safer journeys for motorists.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and the public during these works, the A7 will be closed from Kingsknowe Roundabout to Selkirk on Monday 13 November to Friday 17 November, between 7.30pm and 6am each night.

Local access will be permitted up to the point of the full closures, and access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

A signed diversion route will be in place between Selkirk and Kingsknowe Roundabout via the A699, A68 and A6091. This diversion will add approximately 9.6 miles and 12 minutes to affected journeys.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These maintenance works on the A7 will help address defects and greatly improve the surface for road users.

“We thank the local community and road users in advance for their patience while we complete this project. Road users should try to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”

Emergency services will be given access through the works at all times and local access for residents within the closure points will be maintained when it is safe to pass through the work area.

Relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to make them aware of the plans.

Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland at www.traffic.gov.scot, or on Twitter at @trafficscotland.

All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of adverse conditions.
