Today, Tuesday, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health announced its detection of the EG5 mutant (EG.5), which is one of the sub-mutants of the Omicron mutant of the Corona virus, which has been monitored at the present time in about 50 countries around the world.
The ministry stated in a statement that, based on preliminary scientific data, there is no evidence that the new mutant is more dangerous than other mutants that were previously detected, but it has been observed that it is rapidly spreading in some regions around the world.
At the same time, Kuwaiti Health confirmed the stability of the evaluation indicators of the health and clinical situation inside the country.
The ministry indicated that the emergence of such mutants is expected and not a cause for concern, as mutations are among the basic features of viruses.
She added that in the event of any symptoms or signs of respiratory infection appearing, it is necessary not to mix with others, and to complete seasonal vaccinations related to infectious respiratory diseases, especially for groups with risk factors, and to adhere to preventive measures for health practitioners and pioneers of therapeutic health institutions, wishing everyone good health and safety.
