FC Barcelona, the Spanish Football League champion, suffered a heavy blow by losing the efforts of its young star, Pedri, due to a thigh injury, according to what the Catalan club announced on Thursday.
Barcelona said in a statement, “Barcelona’s first-team player, Pedri, suffered an injury to the right quadriceps muscle. He is not available for selection in the team and his recovery will determine (the date) for his return.”
And the Spanish media expected that the twenty-year-old would be absent from the stadiums for up to four weeks, noting that he missed most of the second half of last season due to a muscle injury.
Pedri played in the two matches that Barcelona played in the local league in the new season, as he drew with Getafe without goals, before winning last weekend over Qadesh 2-0 thanks to a late goal from Pedri in particular and another in stoppage time from Ferran Torres.
Barcelona is preparing for a strong confrontation next Sunday against its host Villarreal for the third stage of the Spanish League.
