Liverpool Football Club rejected an offer of 150 million pounds ($ 190 million) from the Saudi club Al-Ittihad to include Egyptian star Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian international star has been receiving interest from the Saudi club for some time, and the British news agency “BA Media” learned that an oral offer was made on Friday.
But Liverpool rejected the offer and considered the matter settled by confirming that it had no intention of selling the player.
The offer was to pay £100m initially and £50m in add-ons.
Although the offer seemed tempting to the 31-year-old, Liverpool showed determination to confront any attempt to attract the player, who scored 138 goals in 221 games with the team over six seasons that saw him crowned with the Golden Boot award in the English Premier League three times.
Even if Liverpool were willing to study the sale of Mohamed Salah, which sources confirmed is not a possibility at all, the club will not have the opportunity to find an alternative, especially in light of the player’s enormous potential.
When asked about the possibility of Mohamed Salah leaving Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp, coach of the team, said: “Our position is definitely still the same. No doubt about it. We can’t do this (Salah sale). This is the situation. Nothing else can be said ».
Last year, Salah extended his contract with Liverpool for an additional three seasons, and his agent confirmed earlier this month that the Egyptian star does not intend to leave Anfield.
Liverpool had previously lost two players this summer to the Saudi League, with its captain Jordan Henderson and Brazilian Fabinho moving to Al-Ettifaq and Al-Ittihad respectively, while Brazilian Roberto Firmino moved to Al-Ahly after his contract with the “Reds” also expired.
