Asked about the similarities and differences between Porro and Fresneda, Rúben Amorim did not hesitate to analyze the two players.

“Fresneda, did you surprise him this week in training? Similarities with Porro? “They have some similarities, they are the 2 Spaniards [sorriso]. They both have a lot of progress, Ivan is very mature for an 18 year old kid. In the locker room there are two different people, Ivan doesn’t have Porro’s 1×1 ability; Porroo has improved a lot in this regard. Fresneda is better defensively than Porro, he is more physically robust, in terms of enduring consecutive games, but we still have to see. With Porro we had to manage it, but he had an injury. But they are different players.”

The selection break allowed Fresneda to acquire ideal physical indicators, as its pre-season was almost non-existent. Called up to the finals of the under-19 Euro by Spain, he missed part of the preparation at Valladolid, where he did not play any special matches or official games in 2023/24. In his new home, he has already been subjected to ‘beatings’ to regain his rhythm.
