Statements by Sérgio Conceição after the match Estrela da Amadora-FC Porto (0-1), on the fifth round of the I League
About the tactical scheme: “It’s part of the job. We presented an alternative system. We thought it was important for the team, it’s not new, but it’s different from what the usual 4-4-2 has been. Even with the injuries I thought I’d stick to the game plan, but then I only had a window to make substitutions. It was a difficult game, not only because of the quality of Estrela da Amadora, we had to be aware of the opponent’s strengths and we started with seven players with offensive characteristics.”
Bright: “It wasn’t a brilliant game, it wasn’t easy on the ground, Estrela da Amadora is a very physical team, with a great impact in duels. We had some situations that we could have defined better. It’s true that Estrela da Amadora also had, in final part, some opportunities, at a stage in which we retreated on the field. It wasn’t an easy game for both teams. It was very competitive. I’m very satisfied. It wasn’t a brilliant game, but it was an important victory.
About David Carmo: “He’s with me practically every day. He works with ambition to conquer his space, his place. We have maximum confidence in him and that’s why he played today. I think what he’s been doing has been very good.”
Or André Franco: “The inclusion of André Franco was to be more present in the central corridor. I was satisfied. The two best players on the field, for me, were David Carmo and Pepe. There are things to improve and we have to work on”.
