Tom Brady’s glowing praise of Shedeur Sanders stops at the Rolls-Royce

Tom Brady had one criticism for Shedeur Sanders as the Colorado star quarterback’s stock continues to rise.

Shedeur and his father, Deion Sanders, joined Brady on his “Let’s Go!” Podcast on SiriusXM on Monday with the Buffaloes off to a 3-0 start and the talk of college football.

“Tom, do you think a college kid needs a Phantom, like a Rolls-Royce?” Deion asked after Shedeur had made the recent purchase.

“I think he needs to get his (butt) in the film room and spend as much time in there as possible,” Brady responded.

The Colorado head coach said during the glowing interview that the lessons from the seven-time Super Bowl champion have impacted Shedeur’s career.

“Everything you [Brady] do, everything you say, you have no idea how many times I use you to get on his butt,” Deion said. “So you think Tom has a Maybach in college? You think Tom would want a Rolls-Royce Phantom in college?”

The college football landscape is much different now, as opposed to when Brady played at Michigan from 1995-99.

Shedeur’s NIL valuation has jumped to $5.1 million as he becomes one of the most prominent faces in college football.

Through wins over TCU, Nebraska and Colorado State, Shedeur has thrown for 1,251 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Brady, 46, was not short of praise for the 21-year-old quarterback.

When Brady was asked what made Shedeur worthy of his time and effort, he pointed to Shedeur’s ability to be proactive and make a real difference for his team.

“It’s great to watch and just to see this youthful spirit and this program that has been turned around in a really short period of time because of great leadership,” Brady said. “It’s always about the people caring about one another, caring about what you’re trying to accomplish.”

Although Deion is an NFL Hall of Famer with 14 years of experience trying to stop quarterbacks, Shedeur says that Brady is able to offer a different perspective about their shared position.

“Hearing it from dad, I’ve always heard it my whole life,” Shedeur said. “I kinda understand what he’s saying now, majority of the time I would say. But of course, whenever I talk to Tom it’s just different because he actually been back there taking snaps.”

Throughout the podcast, Brady reiterates two aspects of the game to always improve upon: Work ethic and the ability to learn.

However, Deion made it abundantly clear that his program and players won’t settle for mediocrity, especially from his son.

“No excuses. The standard is the standard and the standard don’t change,” Deion said. “Our work ethic pretty much catapulted us to where we are.”

Shedeur channeled Brady on the field in the rivalry game against Colorado State on Saturday night when he told his dad he was going into “Brady mode.”

Shedeur proceeded to drive his team 98 yards for a game-tying touchdown and two-point conversion. Colorado went on to win 43-35 in the second overtime.

“I want to be in Shedeur mode just one time, because that young man is doing things,” Brady said.
